"We wanted to relocate upon our retirement"
"Every once in a while you get lucky, And, that was the case when we found Kathleen Floryan.
This past April my husband and I decided that we wanted to relocate to my Dad's hometown upon our December retirement. Even though we have owned and sold homes in the past, finding a realtor 1000 miles away wasn't going to be easy. We started by surfing the web, and the first Realtor we contacted didn't show much interest when we told her what our price range was. By luck of the draw, Kathleen's was the next name to come up. We sent her an email telling her what we had in mind, our price range and the time factor involved. Kathleen immediately sent a list of homes for sale within our price range. She even included a few that were slightly lower because she considered them to be good properties for the money.
A month later my husband and I flew to St. Augustine and Kathleen spent an entire week showing us homes. At no time did she try to talk us into spending more than we had specified. There was absolutely no pressure or "you could always tear this wall out".
As picky, indecisive buyers, we left St Augustine without finding a home. Kathleen continued to send us emails with new listings and we made a second trip two months later. Again, we didn't find exactly what we were looking for. With only two days remaining, it suddenly occurred to us that maybe we should build. The house we had in mind cost a little more than we had planned to spend, but Kathleen was a fierce negotiatior. And the end result is that we will be moving into our new home in early January.
Once a buyer becomes involved with a contractor, most agents might consider their job done until the closing. However, Kathleen has been an active participant up until the present time. She has emailed us pictures of the house during various stages of construction. If she saw workmanship that she felt we would not be satisfied with, she called it to the builder's attention and immediately emailed us. With the service she has provided, you would think we were million-dollar customers.
Kathleen is by far the most knowledgeable, scrupulous and patient Realtor we have ever encountered. Perhaps her background as a surgical nurse has given her a deeper undertanding of the emotional aspect that comes with buying or selling a home; and the patience to deal with difficult buyers, like us.
If this comes across sounding as though Kathleen is strictly a Buyer's Rep., let us assure you that if in sometime in the future we should decide to sell our home, we have absolutely no doubt that Kathleen will give the same time and attention to selling our home as she did in helping us to buy one.
